Michael and Melinda Riley love jazz, family, friends, a good time, and each other. This past Sunday Michael showered his bride with love on her 55th birthday and family, friends, and jazz lovers were invited to attend.
Most attendees took the name of the event to heart and wore something red. The decorations for the evening also featured red. There was even a red shoe shaped cake for the birthday lady.
The Osceola Golf Club was the setting for this event, and Cashmere Williams provided the entertainment. Williams is touted as the most prominent musician in the Southeast, and his fans will tell you that’s an understatement. His smooth, emotive style has been likened to Wes Montgomery and George Benson. He has done several studio sessions and live performances, in addition to touring with Ruben Studdard, 2003 – 2006.
Williams shared, “I enjoy engaging the crowd. I feel like I’m at home when I’m there. I have some really good friends from Mobile and now Pensacola, so I’m calling them my Mobile family and my Pensacola family.”
With his return visit to Pensacola, Williams gave the crowd an auditory treat. A few of the selections from his set were, “Before I Let Go,” “Sweet Thang,” “Sweetest Taboo,” and “Can’t Hide Love.” Joining Williams was local vocalist Symone Gold. Gold also sings with the local band Entrigue.
When asked about cd sales he shared, “When people hear me perform live they buy my cd.”
His latest cd is entitled “New Birth.” For more information on Cashmere Williams see his website www.cashmerewilliams.com.
With family, friends, and great music this birthday celebration was red hot.
