70s Cabaret, Can You Dig it?

Saturday night, March 26th, Dance Konnection Swingers (DKS) presented Pensacolians with the hippest trip in town, the DKS 70’s Cabaret. Held at Sanders Beach-Corinne Jones Resource Center, DKS took attendees back in time.

DKS is headed by Stacye Moering, Herman Hafler and Angilene Hafler and they have been hosting this event since 2010. “Every year the community wants this event. We had over 400 hundred people purchase tickets, and the rain didn’t stop them from coming and having a ball.” This DKS experience is so popular they already have a waitlist for next year’s event. Moering added, “DKS thanks the community for their support over the years and for making the 2016 70’s cabaret another sold out event!”

Attendees wore their best 70’s throwback attire and boogied, bumped, hustled, and bus stopped the night away. Entertainment included a Rick James tribute by Alfonso Thompson, a Tina Tuner tribute by Expertise Entertainment, Mike Riley as Don Cornelius, and the mandatory Soul Train Line. Another feature of the evening was the 70’s Best Dressed Contest, won by Timothy Wood from Atlanta, GA and Sonda Sharp. Contest winners were determined by audience applause and the DKS trio previously mentioned. Winners were given the title of “pimp” or “pimpette” and received a cash prize.

To paraphrase the late Don Cornelius, “You can bet your last money, it was a stone gas, Honey!”
