The next leader of the Duval County Health Department, a search committee unanimously decided Friday, should be an exuberant doctor committed to building better patient care and strong communication with the public in times of crisis.
That’s why they unanimously chose Kelli Wells, clinical services director at the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County, as the doctor they’ll recommended for the role of Duval health department’s director.
Wells has family in Jacksonville and started her medical career here, working in public health clinics for three years before returning to Pensacola. Her connection to the community was a strong motivation for her interest in the job and a bonus to the search committee members.
