Monday morning community members gathered in the rain to show their support for the new program that will offer hope to many formerly incarcerated individuals.
“A strong support network is essential for formerly incarcerated individuals to successfully transition back into their communities, and here at ACTS it is our ultimate goal to assist these individuals with their efforts to rebuild their lives,” said Pastor Leon Rankins, founder and Executive Officer of Another Chance Transitional Services (ACTS). “
On hand were guest speakers John Jerralds (former City Council), Admiral Leroy, Executive Director of African American Chamber of Commerce and Pastor Charles Bradshaw, former Chaplain of Blackwater River Correctional Facility.
The crowd of approximately 60 people was entertained by Poet Nielah Spears who recited her poem I AM and Debra Foster of Women Intervention Services and Education who sang a solo of Stand.
