Saturday morning at the Fricker Resource Center, a kick-off Rally began for the 5K Walk for Sickle Cell 2013 fundraising. “The Kick off Rally gave an opportunity for people to register for the walk,” said Walter Wallace. “At the Kick-off we gave information regarding how to organize for the walk-a-thon.” He said.
Mrs. Larkins of Gulf Power was on hand to speak of her disease and answer questions to help other people suffering with Sickle Cell. To add to the entertainment, The Bellview Rockets cheerleaders performed a cheerleading routine that had everyone cheering. D J Franchise was the house playing music and doing his “DJ” thing for occasion. “We also had the Delta Sorority there volunteering,” said Wallace.
“We would like to thank City of Pensacola and the Fricker staff and most of all, people who registered for the walk.” It’s still time to register,” said Wallace. “We encourage the public to come out and any business looking to sponsor the event, please feel free to contact Sickle Cell office for sponsorship opportunities.”
