The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office broke ground Monday for the new Warrington precinct substation. (The former substation closed in 2008 due to budget cuts).
According to Special Projects coordinator, Gary Montee, the project should be completed by early to mid summer.
“This will replace the old precinct which was shut down by the previous administration and the cost will be about $1.3 million,” Montee said.
Montee also said, “this is a project that has been in the works for the past three years and we are very excited to now be able to start the developmental process.”
The Warrington precinct will be home to 75 police deputies and will be open on a 24/7 basis.
Hewes & CO LLC, a local agency, will preside over the construction of the project. The monies used for this project were made available through the Escambia County Local Option Sales Tax.
