With nearly 50 people in attendance, the Good Hope African Methodist Episcopal Church’s first annual Male Chorus Musical Festival, held last Sunday afternoon, sent up many praises.
Mr. Charles R. Griffen of Good Hope A.M.E. read the service’s opening scripture.
During the service, each of the three performing choirs sang two selections.
Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church’s male chorus moved the crowd with their rendition of the old hymn “Holy Waters.”
Afterwards, Hurst Chapel A.M.E. continued the celebration by leading the audience in “I’m Satisfied.”
Throughout the service one could see joy and exuberance on the faces of those listening and enjoying the program.
Good Hope’s pastor, Rev. Dr. Corbin Jr., thanked the choral groups for performing. “I think that this is wonderful that we have several great groups that can celebrate the Lord with us in the spirit of song,” he said.
At the closing of the festivities the host chorus, The Visionaries, brought the audience to their feet by singing many soulful tunes.
“We are very glad to be here to day to give thanks and praise to the Lord in this house,” said a few members of the chorus at the beginning of their set.
