Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward announced this week that he has selected Ryan Winterberg-Lipp to serve as administrator of the City’s Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).
Winterberg-Lipp, a Pensacola native, is a graduate of Florida State University and holds a Masters Degree in city and regional planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has also studied urban planning and redevelopment abroad in Brazil and Germany. Since 2010, Winterberg-Lipp has worked as an urban planner with the City of Pensacola’s Planning Services Division.
Created in 1980, the CRA funds public infrastructure to foster private investment in Pensacola’s urban core, encompassing the area south of Cervantes Street to the waterfront, bounded by A Street to the west and 17th Avenue to the east.
As CRA Administrator, Winterberg-Lipp will manage the agency’s projects and events and will work closely with the CRA Board, Mayor Hayward, as well as the Mayor’s recently announced Urban Redevelopment Advisory Committee to implement the CRA’s Master Plan and other initiatives.
At the CRA meeting held this week, Lipp thanked the CRA and the Mayory for this opportunity. “As a native of Pensacola, I am extremely excited to have this opportunity to do what I can do in this position. I look forward to working with the CRA and the citizens of Pensacola.”
“With an increasingly vibrant downtown, the completion of the Community Maritime Park, and the demolition of the Main Street Wastewater Treatment Plant, it’s clear that there’s a forward momentum in the CRA,” said Mayor Hayward. “Ryan has a strong background in urban planning and redevelopment, and I believe she is well-equipped to help the CRA capitalize on that momentum and continue to support growth and investment in our urban core.”
Under the current interlocal agreement between the City and CRA, the City provides administrative services and personnel to the CRA. Winterberg-Lipp will transition to her new role effective immediately.
CRA Chair Brian Spencer said Winterberg-Lipp is a perfect match for the CRA and its purpose and role in fostering and coordinating redevelopment. “It’s a rare opportunity for Pensacola to secure an individual with Ryan’s qualifications as our CRA Administrator. Her resume is more than impressive and includes valuable community service experience she gained during her undergraduate and graduate studies. I have no doubt that she will help bring the CRA to a level of productivity that will earn tremendous support from the Mayor, Council, and most importantly, the citizens of Pensacola.”
Winterberg-Lipp is a member of the American Planning Association’s Emerald Coast chapter and is currently pursuing her AICP certification.
