Sickle Cell Hosts Christmas Party for Local Children
Saturday evening Sickle Cell Hosted their annual Christmas party for children and their families with Sickle Cell Disease and Sickle traits at Fricker Center. “We had all types of games, crafts , food and sang Christmas carols. We even had Santa there,” said Walter Wallace.
There was approximately children there enjoying the occasion. “We had a total of seventy people including parents,” said Wallace.
Every year Sickle Cell gives this event to give children and their family with this debilitating disease a chance to relax and have fun and just be normal.
Outreach Coordinator Leslie Hunter Huff and volunteers really worked to make this event a success,” said Wallace. And Mrs. Jackie Hunter really went the extra mile in decorating for this event. It was really beautiful.”
“We want to let the community know that these children and adults that have this disease is a life long struggle and we would like to have more support from our community,” said Wallace.
Sponsors for the event included Gulf Power and the Transformers, Barnes, Publix, Walgreens and The City of Pensacola. “We want to thank all of our sponsors to help make this Christmas a happy occasion for our children.” He said.
