Friday evening the Kingky Sistahs of NWF and the NAACP Youth Council of Pensacola presented The Black Experience 2014, A Black History Tribute to many African American figures who has greatly impacted the African American culture at the Woodland Heights Neighborhood Resource Center.
First paying tribute to Madame C J Walker, the first Black female millionaire, the hosts Tyrin Moorer and Brandon Robinson then quizzed the audience on their knowledge of Black History. Asking questions such as “who was responsible for creating peanut butter” to which business was not located in the Belmont/DeVilliers area in the early days” made everyone, young and old, put on their thinking caps.
The Fashion Show, given by the NAACP Youth Council and KSNWF , paid tribute to history makers including Jackie Robinson, the first African American Baseball Player that was entered into the hall of fame, Angela Davis, a member of the Black Panthers who also was a member of the Communist Party, Dianna Ross, the lead singer of the famous Supremes and the Obama Family, the first African American Presidential family in the White House.
