Sometimes you cannot leave it to a computer to proof your spelling and grammar. As you see from the above illustration. Where is Spell Checker? It can be found in most Microsoft products such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, and more. Depending on what version Microsoft Office you are running depends on where Spell Checker is located. In Microsoft Office ’97-2003 it is in tools, in Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010 it is found in Review. If you do not know which Microsoft Office product you have press F7 key on your keyboard not to be confused with the F key and the 7 key and it will launch Spell Checker. If you are curious about which version Microsoft Office you are running click on help for ’97-2003 and the question mark far right hand corner for 2007 and 2010. “Bizing-ga!”
Did you know that you can modify Spell Checker to tell you additional information at the end of the check? It will tell you by category Counts: Words, Paragraphs, Sentences; Averages: Sentences per Paragraph, Words per sentence, Characters per Word; Readability: Passive Sentences, Flesch Reading Ease, Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level.
If you want to accomplish that follow these steps. If you are running Microsoft Office Word ’97-2003 launch Microsoft Word, click on tools, then click on options at the bottom, in the options window click on Spelling & Grammar tab, a little more than mid-way down look for the heading Grammar; left mouse button click in the box next to “Show Readability Statistics”. Microsoft Office Word 2007 & 2010 left mouse button click on the Microsoft Office logo upper left hand corner of Microsoft Office Word, at the bottom right of that window left mouse button click on word options, in the Word Options window on the left hand side left mouse button click on proofing. Under the heading “When correcting spelling and grammar in word” put a check mark in the box next to “show readability statistics” by positioning your mouse pointer in the box and left mouse button click. There are many other options to choose from while you are in the proofing section of Word options. After you are finished selecting your desired options left mouse button click on “ok” bottom right corner of the Word options window.
