University Pines, an independent retirement living facility located at 8991 University Parkway in Pensacola, has become a showplace of “green thumb seniors” growing plants and flowers to add nurturing experiences to their lives. The visit by Pensacola Voice staff to the facility was in response to a call from Mark Stern, Fellow: Health & Wellness Communications Strategy Group, to promote the active lifestyle of the residents. There were numerous locations within the complex that were included on the tour.
Each of the seniors that met with the Pensacola Voice team had a presentation of plants and flowers that became a visual marketing expression of an active lifestyle that not only gave them positive experiences, but also added to the beauty of the facility’s walkways and apartment back porches of the residents.
The uniquely designed complex is owned by Holiday Retirement, which was founded in 1971 with a goal to create a lifestyle unlike anything seniors had ever experienced before. In today’s growing senior living marketplace, Holiday Retirement serves residents in senior living communities across the United States. University Pines was opened in 1998 and remains visually appealing.
Marketing material for the retirement living facility includes round-the-clock staff, private apartments with various floor plans and sizes, chef-prepared meals, and life-enriching activities such as the gardening program. The quote from Holiday Retirement’s marketing states, “We’ve put together a comprehensive program of activities and events designed to help seniors live more robust, fulfilling lives”.
