It was a night of good food and fun at the Cordova Mall of Pensacola, Florida. Celebrating its 21st annual Mall Ball the event was held on the 23rd day of January 2016 from 8 p.m. to midnight. Proceeds went to benefit children who are sick and injured at The Children’s Hospital at Sacred Heart. Presented by Wendy’s, this is an event which is hosted by The Krewe of Les Petits Enfants which is also known as The Order of the Small Children.
This year there were six live bands including The Modern Eldorados, Starz, A Flock of Sea Monkeys, Reunion Band, Mass Kunfuzion, and Trunk Monkey. All of the music had a twist of jazz and New Orleans French Market style in liaison to Mardi-Gras festivals.
As food was served on nearly every corner of the mall, there were over 25 restaurants present. Delicious cuisines such as red beans and rice was served by 5 Sisters Soul Food Restaurant, strawberry short cake and other deserts was served by Sam’s Fun City, delicious meats were prepared by McGuire’s Irish Restaurant, and many others.
A silent auction, which included vacation packages, art, jewelry, golf packages, and more was also held at the ball. These items were donated by vendors throughout the Pensacola community. The Cordova Mall Ball is an annual formal event which is held each year. Through the years it has generated over $4.1 million dollars. In 2015 the ball raised a total of $432,319. These net proceeds are used to enhance medical equipment such as portable ultrasound machines, neonatal breast-milk scanning devices, and to purchase state-of-the-art infant transport incubators for the children of The Children’s Hospital at Sacred Heart in Pensacola, Florida. This hospital is also in partnership with Nemours Children’s Clinic.
