On January 29th, 2016, Florida’s Governor Rick Scott announced the reappointment of Pastor Carl E. Reeves of the Greater Mount Lily Missionary Baptist Church in Pensacola to serve on the Florida Faith-Based and Community-Based Advisory Council. Pastor Reeves was initially appointed in November 2007, to a four year term by then Governor Charlie Crist and reappointed in February, 2011 by Governor Scott.
The Council advises the Governor and the Florida Legislature on policies, priorities, and objectives for the state’s comprehensive effort to enlist, equip, enable, empower and expand the work of faith-based, volunteer, and other community organizations to the full extent permitted by law.
The Council has continued to strengthen the ability of faith-based and community-based organizations to work in concert with government in providing Floridians with needed humanitarian and social services. Pastor Reeves’ reappointment is effective as of January 20, 2016, through July 18, 2019, and does not require confirmation by the Florida Senate.
