Alicia Waters and Jamel Moore are the co-hosts of the Sunday Fresh Morning Show airing from 7:00 am until 7:30 am every first and third Sunday on Choice 106.9FM/WRNE 980AM. On Sunday, March 20th they held the Sunday Fresh Morning Show Launch Party at My Father’s Vineyard, 8130 Pensacola Blvd.
A few days before the launch party, the three of us had an opportunity to sit and talk about their show. Moore shared that he and Waters became Facebook friends after a random chance meeting, and their virtual friendship grew into a real friendship.
Waters had the desire for a radio show in her spirit years earlier and had already sat down to work out how she wanted the show to go. Moore was initially going to be part of the show with another host, but while that pairing wasn’t meant to be a new opportunity was created for him and Waters to team up. Moore states, “I don’t know anything about doing a radio show, all I know is how to be myself. Being myself, some people may find me entertaining.” He further states that because of Waters, “courage to have a vision and go after it, I knew we would work well together.” And he was right; they have a chemistry that looks like a seasoned friendship. Moore is a bit of a jokester and Waters helps him get back on track. Together this spirit filled duo comforts and engages their audience.
So how do they describe their show? According to Waters, “It’s fresh. It’s fun. It’s exciting. It’s inspirational, and it’s informative. It is a reminder of the mercies that are new every morning. It is the push to get your week started. It is just like a breath of fresh air. We also want to educate. We want to help you start your day while you’re getting ready for church.”
At the Launch Party attendees were treated to delicious food prepared by Tenesia’s Flavor Town Catering. The event also featured decorations by Okevia Carter of Deja Vu Events. Lighting by Cleo Dexter, Man Behind Da Curtain Entertainment. Photography provided by Carlos Miller, Klear Eye Captured Moments. Musical entertainment was provided by Marvin M. Boatman and the Boatman family, Johari Massie, and Luigino A. Rosaria and his band. Vendors on hand included Carol Mulrain Robinson, Creative Styles Hair Salon and Spa, Daddy & Daughter Date Night, and Marvin Boatman. Waters makeup was done by Adetoun; Devin Tucker, of Celebrity Styling, styled her; and Sara Smith Redmond, CEO D & J’s Favorite Things, provided her accessories.
The Launch Party was a true party. Great music, delicious food, and great people celebrating Waters and Moore as they embark on this faith walk.
Since they are now in radio, they had to take a moment and pause for the cause. If you are interested in being a sponsor for this show, message the Sunday Fresh Morning Show on Facebook.
One last thing, Moore is starting another venture. He proposed to his stunning girlfriend, Okevia Carter, and she said “Yes!”
