Computer Tips: What is this?

The Mouse

Mouse article 44 (1)

Not so long ago the white Windows Logo appeared in the bottom right side of your “Desk Top” System Tray or Notification area on our monitors; in particular those of us that have Windows 7, Windows 8, and or Windows 8.1.

That icon is to inform you that you are eligible for the next Windows Operating System as a free upgrade.  When you click on it, you may reserve your free Windows 10 Upgrade for a limited time only.  There is also information about the new Windows 10 Operating System features.

This is only offered to Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 users for the first year, after you will have to buy it.

Microsoft has listened to the need to revert to the old operating system and provided a tool for that.  Previously there was no simple way to revert you would have to know syntax code.

The version Windows 10 you will receive will be based on what version you currently have.  As an example Home Premium = Windows 10 Home Premium, Professional = Windows 10 Professional and so on.

I can only recommend exploring that little Windows Logo and get to know what Microsoft is offering.  It is truly a shame that our military is still running Windows XP.

I hope to accomplish that you know you are smarter than your computer, that the computer is a tool, and you are the master of that tool.  If you have any questions you would like answered in this column please send them to:
