Flaunting multi-colored extensions and dawning neon-colored tank tops, models representing “The Polished Ladies,” set the crowd on fire as they theatrically modeled various hairdos and performed dance routines to Willow Smith’s, “Whip My Hair.”

Although initially off to a slow start, the Sanders Beach-Corrine Jones Community Center swelled to standing room only as attendees packed the venue to see several local hair stylists, barbers and entertainers alike strut their stuff.

The brainchild of Michelle Batch and Alexis Steele, “A Reflection of Elegance,” spotlighted both licensed and unlicensed beauticians but also entertainers and independent jewelry designers. Steele, who initially started doing shows in the Mobile area, decided to bring her ideas to Pensacola –and the duo have been working together for about three years.

With food and an open bar, attendees were encouraged to personalize their tables with drinks, food, party favors or other decorations at the cabaret theme event.  Mane Attraction, visiting from Mobile, Ala., took the lead, decorating their table to go along with their cupcake themed performance.

With music provided by Pensacola’s own, DJ Neutron, guests were able to listen to music, enjoy the show and even get a little comedic relief from comedian Kermit Baker. Baker, who hosted the event, performed later that evening , “Plenty Bunny,” a tribute to Bunny sandwich bread, spoofing rapper Plies’, “Plenty Money.”

Beauticians for the evening included: Natasha Boyd, Kacey Phillips, Toshia “Fierce” Steele and Tracey Richardson from Mane Attraction and popular barber Carmelo Colley from MOB Cuts. Performers for the evening included Pensacola natives J-Skee, Uglyman, 33, Young HD and Triggerman.
