Gulf Coast Jazz Summer Fest Rocks Maritime Park

Saturday afternoon, the sun decided to hide behind the clouds creating a soft overcast to begin a soulful Summer Jazz fest that would last well beyond 11pm.

Artists such as Gerald Albright opened the show to approximately 2,500 people, coming from all parts of the south to enjoy the first Jazz concert to perform in Pensacola.

As the evening progressed, the crowd began to relax and Alex Bougnon took to the stage to really strike a match playing his new cuts as well as a little “Luther: to get the audience in the mood.  From there it was on.

Steve Cole, Norma Brown, Kirk Whalum,  Rick Brown, Pieces of a Dream and Brian Simpson kept the night growing as the party really began.

Everyone nodded their head, tapped their feet or just got up and danced the evening away.

Even as a little rain drizzled on the crowd, most people stayed, some opening their umbrellas to protect themselves,  while others just sat and enjoyed the final moments.

Cadillac Banks, founder of Banks Enterprise Entertainment, could be found mingling with the crowd and making sure everyone was enjoying the evening.  “I want to take a moment to thank everyone for coming.  He went on to thank the many sponsors and supporters that helped to make the evening possible.

Everyone agreed as they left Maritime Park that this was by far the best concert delivered yet.

This concert will go down in history is the First Summer Fest Jazz concert that truly brought Jazz to Pensacola.
