Kesha White wins national award

Kesha White (l) received the “ Questioned Documents”award and special recognition from the American Association of Forensic Scientists President ­Douglas H. Ubelaker, PhD .

Recently, Kesha White of Pensacola, Florida won the national American Associaiton of Forensic Science award for her excellent work in forensic sciences in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

White is a Crime Laboratory Analyst assigned to the Questioned Document section with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. White was recognized in February at The American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) Annual Meeting for my “outstanding contributions in the field of Questioned Documents”, with the American Academy of Forensic Sciences Regional Award 2012.

White gave an oral presentation at AAFS 2012 meeting on “Determining Reliability and Frequency of Trough Pattern in Gel Ink Pens” and has published an article with the Journal of Forensic Identification on that subject and others.

White’s professional memberships include: Southeastern Association of Forensic Document Examiners, American Academy of Forensic Sciences, International Association for Identification, American Standards for Testing and Materials International-Forensic Science Committee (Questioned Documents), American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board International Technical Assessor.

Just to give you some background on what Questioned Document Examination is:

A questioned document may be broadly defined as anything that bears marks, signs, or symbols which have meaning or conveys a message to someone and is in dispute. It is Forensic Document Examiners job to examine and compare handwriting, typewriting, inks, paper and office machines for the purpose of determining authorship, how the questioned document was prepared and its authenticity.
