Sunday afternoon a variety of models took to the runway all in the name of helping a good cause at the Sanders Beach-Corinne Jones Center.
Sponsored by the King Richard Foundation, “Beauty by the Bay” Fashion show spotlighted Pensacola’s Celebrities of Style, Pastors & First Ladies of Fashion and Men & Women of Distinction.
“Every year we have given the fashion show to raise funds for projects such as “Send a kid to Camp, and to educate and make the community aware of children that are autistic,” said Ann Richards, chairman of The King Richard Foundation. “The camp is so important. First to the parents because they know that their children are going to have a great time and to the children because the camp is structured for special needs children and that not only teaches them about how to do certain things, it creates a sense of independence in them.” She said.
The show began at 3pm with guest being served a delicious dinner of beef brisket, rick pilaf, green beans, salad and dessert.
As the show began, the crowd was entertained by dancers that gave renditions of the swing, and other ball room dancing techniques.
Ms. Mamie Hixon, mistress of ceremony, took to the runway first showing off her lovely two-piece fuchsia satin pant suit.
As each model entered, Ms. Hixon, with her wit and charm, gave a glowing description of the outfits that they were wearing.
“We hope to have more sponsors next year,” said Richards. That way we can send more children to camp.” This year because of the fundraiser, three children will get to go to camp.
