Movement for Change, Inc. Renames Building In Honor of Founder

Sunday afternoon, community friends, family and members of Movement for Change held a dedication ceremony to rename the office the LeRoy Boyd Center for Social Justice in honor of their founder and President LeRoy Boyd.

“LeRoy was one of a kind,” said Ms.  Della Abbott.  He loved people and he loved Movement for Change. His dream for this organization was to be world class; to make a change in the community, in the state and in the nation.”

“He worked tirelessly for freedom of justice for everyone. He knew we would be better by voting foe economic growth for ourselves and our citizens.    He knew we would all be better by supporting, encouraging, protecting, and training our children.  He knew would be better by ending brutality in our jails and injustice in our court system.”

A tribute was paid to the oldest living member of the organization, Mrs. Mary Matthews.  Mrs. Matthews was unable to attend because she was not feeling well.

The unveiling of the new sign was done by his wife, Mrs. Jeanne Boyd and Mr. Ernest Leatherwood.

After the ceremony, refreshments were served to the guests in the LeRoy Boyd Center for Social Justice.
