From L-R: Seppie Rogers, Ida Pearl Royster,

Saturday evening, Mrs. Seppie Rogers celebrated her 100th birthday with approximately 100 of her family and friends.

Born Jan 18 1912 in Chestnut Alabama Mrs. Rogers (Mama Seppie to those close to her) was the oldest of 8 children. She grew up in Alabama and moved to Pensacola after she married Wilson Rogers in the early 1930’s. ‘Mama Seppie’ attended Selma Lutheran Academy in Selma, Alabama where she was of the Lutheran faith. Later, when she moved to Pensacola, she joined the Light of the World Church of God where she has been a faithful member for many years.

“My mom taught school in Alabama. This was when you did not need a college education. You simply needed to know how to teach and was knowable about many things at that time,” Said Carrie Henderson, Chestnut’s daughter. (Carrie is the oldest of seven; one of Chestnut’s children has proceeded her.) “We are from a large Christian family and are very close. Mama gets a joy out just having everybody home.”

Happy Birthday Mama Seppie!
