NAACP Recognizes Outstanding Youth

Saturday evening, Bay County NAACP awarded ten young people for their achievements in Scholastics, Athletics, Community Involvement, Artistic Expression, and church involvement at Rosenwald High School., Panama City.

“We believe that our nation’s youth are our most valuable natural assist,” said Sedric Sawyer, publicist for the branch.

“Our local community is blessed with so many bright, intelligent, gifted, talented and compassionate young men and women.  Our branch is convinced that families, schools, churches, sororities, fraternities, organizations, businesses and the community at large play a vital role in their formation.  It is important that we help them develop a future for themselves that is rooted in high expectation and thoughtful planning.  They need our support as they continue to grow and as they transition into adulthood.”  He said.

Awardees included:  Church Involvement:  Jada Pierce 11th Grade Bay High School, Charles Brooks-7th Grade Everett Middle School.  Athletics: J’Mylah Daniels-Senior Mosley High School.   Academics:  Shykale Salmon-Senior Rosenwald High School, Marquis Steele-Senior Rutherford High School  Rylan Joseph-5th  Grader Oscar Patterson.  Community Service:  Cheri Hines-11th Grader Rutherford High School, Reginald Stanley, Jr-7th Grader Bay Haven Charter School.  Artistic Achievement:  Logan Mays-Senior Rosenwald High School, LalahShannon-5th Grade Oscar Patterson.
