Sunday afternoon, New World Landing was filled with ladies parading big hats, little hats, sheik hats, simple hats, wide hats, narrow hats, cowboy hats, men’s hats and fedoras, hats with an attitude and hats that made you do a double take. Even the children got in on the hat craze; there was even a space for the youths hats.
As the crowd enjoyed the banquet lunch prepared, eight youths received scholarships to contribute to their college education. They were Italia Brinston attending UF, Dominic Eaton attending FAMU, Jazzlyn Franklin attending FSU, Alexiss Huffman attending PSC, Amir Kelker attending UWF, Andrea Kemp attending USA, Erika Ware attending ASU and Domonique Whitehurst attending USF.
Following the scholarship awards, ladies and gentlemen were randomly selected by judges for the category of the biggest hat, most “hattitude” hat, best male hat, best youth hat, best coordinated couple hat and most creative hat.
