Golfers from throughout the United States flew in to participate in the PAR 4 tournament held at Osceola Golf Course, Friday and Saturday. “We had golfers come from Texas, Mississippi, Alabama and other surrounding areas participate in the tournament this year.” Said Walter Wallace
“We are about helping the community,” said Wallace. Most of our money goes to 1st Tee program for young kids that want to learn to play, and also to Learn to Read, Sickle Cell, and to the needy on Thanksgiving and Holidays we donate baskets. We are also in the progress of partnering with Habitat for Humanity”. The organization is a member of SAAG (Southeast Association Amateur Golfers)
At the end of the tournament all of the organizations meet, this year at the end of October, and play for the championship and win a trophy.
This years’ tournament was outstanding. We had approximately 125 golfers participate. “One thing that was unique this year in the tournament was that Shelley, the person who actually won the tournament was disqualified. He neglected to look over his card and make sure his score was accurate.” He showed the values that the organization prides itself in- honesty, integrity and respect. He reported the error and as a result Mr. Blake Olsen won.
“We are always looking for young people and African American females. The game of golf is for anybody. The first Tee program is free. All you have to do is just show up.”
