Saturday evening cold weather could not keep the crowd from standing and waiting for Santa to make his grand appearance. Approximately 200 floats, all decorated for Christmas paraded down Palafox Street throwing candy and beads to onlookers. Bands from Pensacola and New Orleans marched doing their routines and playing festive music for the occasion.
Community dance teams strutted their stuff and performed as if the weather was no problem.
Then came Santa! Leaving Rudolf and the reindeer at the North Pole, Santa chose to ride in a decorated antique fire truck with Mrs. Clause at his side.
The parade, which brought out hundreds of residents, was the prelude to the traditional tree lighting ceremony in downtown Pensacola.
