The Gulf Coast African American Chamber of Commerce (GCAACC) held its monthly G.A.I.N. Night (Gain Awareness, Intelligence and Networking) on October 20, 2015 at the Pensacola Improv. This month’s G.A.I.N. Night featured Non-Profit Organizations. “There are several non-profit organizations in the area that some people may not know about. The idea of us highlighting non-profit organizations was to make the community aware of services that are offered here in Pensacola,” said Nicole Dixon, Executive Director of the Gulf Coast African American Chamber of Commerce. “The event was also an effort for the business community to get involved,” Dixon added.
A special guest for the evening was Jeremie Samuel, author of The Moorish Essence of Pensacola: A Legacy of Exploration and Cultural Exchange from Estévanico to Tristán de Luna. This book follows the history of the Moors on the Gulf Coast and uncovers the rich, hidden cultural treasures of North America’s first port city and its influence on our area, which is still visible today.
