World champion dancers Justin Guilmette and Kimalee Piedad performed together Saturday evening, April 5, in the Dance for Life charity exhibition along with other professionals in Northwest Florida.
Hosted by Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Crestview, this event was to benefit the programs of Covenant Hospice in Okaloosa and Walton Counties. The audience enjoyed a full night of professional and amateur dancing.
As international champions, the duo performed several of their award-winning ballroom dance moves on stage in the Crestview High School Pearl Tyner Auditorium.
Justin and Kimalee formed their partnership as competitive dancers in 2012. Shortly after, they won world dance championships within the United States, the British Invitational Exhibition in England, and several Cabaret Championships with the Fred Astaire National Dance Team.
Professionally trained in ballet, Piedad started competing in ballroom dance in 2005. Since then she has featured on seasons 6 and 8 of “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Dancing with the Stars”. As a duo they specialize in ballroom and Latin style dance. Just like their performances, Dance for Life was a success. Fred Astaire Dance Studio owner David Colón and Jenni Perkins, Senior development manager of Covenant Hospice in Crestview, Florida partnered to make this event a special one.
The organizations have worked closely with one another to make this event successful four years consecutively.
To well serve their community all proceeds was donated to support hospice service programs including nursing, bereavement, children’s support, chaplain, and social services.
